Prepared to be Tested

No matter what sport you play, practice is different from the game. Practice is repetitive. The reason you practice is to prepare your fundamentals so when it is time to compete it will come natural. It has been said “practice makes perfect” but in reality “perfect practice makes perfect.” Through practice, we prepare for the competition ahead. When the test comes, we will be ready.

Spiritual disciples are how we as Christians practice. We are preparing for the tests of life. When temptation or affliction comes our way, we can be prepared. Studying God’s Word is one of the disciplines of our faith that prepares us for the tests of our life. God’s Word keeps us on track. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Proverbs 6:23-24 say, “For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life, to preserve you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.” Studying God’s Word prepares us for the test.

On March 6, we start our Bible conference with Mike Taylor. We will be studying Jesus’ teaching on discipleship in the Gospels. From 12-1 each day we will be having a meal together and he will be teaching through Ruth. Do not miss this opportunity to prepare for the tests of life.
